Events are a big part of village life in Wickham, and attract as many visitors as locals. Fetes, fairs and festivals take place all around the parish throughout the year. For exact dates please see the events calendar.
English summer begins with the May Day Morris dancers “greeting the dawn” followed by the Wickham Horse Fair on 20th May where the travelling community sell and race ponies and a fun fair fills the square.
The annual Wickham Duck Race, traditionally in June, raises funds for local organisations such as the Primary School and Scouts.
Early August sees a large field to the north of The Square is transformed into The Wickham Music Festival.
Taste of Wickham, taking place on the Second Sunday of September is a celebration of everything that makes Wickham so special. The Square is closed to traffic and instead filled with stalls, a marquee, cookery demonstrations, kids crafts, a hug bouncy castle and live music.
In early December, Father Christmas visits The Square to turn on Wickham’s Christmas lights. Expect seasonal refreshments, musical entertainment and and late night shopping.
